We are going to try for a meetup at the Rosemont Hotel (Hindley street) on the 21st feb 2009 against Bolton, Kick off is at 1.30am,we have picked this game as we have friends newly arrived from England who are Bolton Fans and definately will be attending (so at least Kaye and myself wont be so lonely) :p .

The last couple of times we have tried this it has failed MISERABLY :-( , been only Kaye and Myself and one other Hammers fan.

We realise that due to viewers choice people are more keen to sit at home and watch the game so in saying that if we cannot get a response to this meetup then i think we will shut the Adelaide Hammers down and i feel this would be a shame.

Last season the feedback i got was that the venue was not right,so we went out and spoke to the ROSEMONT (a sports bar) and got us back in there but this does not seemed to have helped :? .

What i am asking for from this email is first whether you can attend and also whether the whole thought of an Adelaide Hammers interests you.Realy hope to hear from youin the near future with a response.

Kaye and Myself will be there from 11.00pm so please come along early and have a drink and a song or two :-) :-) :-) :-) .

Cheers Paul and Kaye
Adelaide Hammers

Well I will be watching us (unless of course I am passed out by that stage) but it would be nigh on impossible to get my non-football friends out into the city to watch the game.

Well we were beaten on the field and also beaten off the field, once again a whole total of ONE (thanks for coming Mark (pasty)).

Last night was the final straw for both myself and Kaye not only did we lose but i had to deal with TWO MORONIC VILLA fans and ONE Chelski fan all offering me to step outside (fucking soft cocks) ,how alcohol makes some oh so brave.

Oh well to get back to it am fed up with spending all my hard earned cash going into the city to watch the Hammers and have maybe one other fan turn up, I to can watch it in the comfort of my home and from here on i will be doing so.So from here on out i will no longer bother try to get the Adelaide Hammers up and running as there obviously is just not enough interest.Over the years we have tried different Venues with no success have asked for feedback and got none and have had nothing but promises only to have no delivery, there is always a reason why people will not attend. :-(

All we ever wanted to do was get a following as the Brissy Hammers do but alas this is not to be.Would be happy for someone to pick up where we left off and perhaps have more fortune than we did, this probably sounds a bit bitter but i am so disappointed and upset oh yeah and quite HUNGOVER.

At the end of the day though COME ON YOU IRONS,we are WESTHAM TILL WE DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-)

Cheers for all your effort you put in Paul. If i was you i probably would have given up a long time ago so credit to you for sticking it out for so long. As i said to you last night, not much more you could have done.

The only thing i can think of for possible future reference is maybe if WHU play in a big game in the near future where you venture out into town for the atmosphere (I've seen over 20-30 Hammers fans at FA Cup matches, playoff matches, other games with importance, etc so they are out there!) just hand out a few leaflets telling people about the WHU-AU forums. Hopefully people might sign up and start posting regularly and once you have that happening you might decide to give it another shot one day. One of the major differences between Adel and Bris is the fact that all of the Brissie lads come on here and interact, see who is coming, who is not, gather a bit of excitement and a bit of banter amongst one another. Getting some Adelaide people to visit the forums might do the same here.

BTW thought we at least deserved a point last night!

What a disappointment. TBH I can totally understand your sentiments. It's hard work trying to get something going and to be constantly let down is soul destroying. No-one can question your committment, you've given it a real shake and you couldn't have done anymore.

On the bright side, at least the money you'll be saving can go towards your next trip up here?
