Don't give terry any ideas

If is isn't a big 4 club or they don't have an Australian playing for them then it's pretty unlikely that they'll give a shit about good coverage. I understand that though however cause it is "soccer" after all, and your run of the mill aussie (in my experience anyway) isn't going to care much about football. It's changing though, over the last 5 years football has become more and more popular but it doesn't yet share the intense following on a large scale as the other codes do. Hence why I think the coverage isn't up to scratch.

Kungfoosing - I appreciate your opinion but I think you are being a bit harsh. If you knew Risky then you'd realise he'd probably be the last person you'd call ignorant. Stupid yes - ignorant no! ;)

I think where risky is coming from is that football has been very ridiculed in Australia over the years and it is the abuse he's had to endure over the sport he loves that has driven him to call things like GAYFL etc.

You do make some reasonable points though that we are talking about the English Premier League and this is Australia and you wouldn't hear about Aussie sports so much in the UK. But what you also have to understand is that there are many supporters of English Premier League clubs in Australia who are genuinely interested in the game. Whereas in England - nobody cares whatsoever about AFL nor understands it and it would be pointless discussing it on television because it would have NO audience. AFL does not travel whereas football is the world game and every country has a good section of support for the game and more than any other league - the English Premier League.

Having said that things are improving rapidly here and we actually get alot more live games here than the do in the UK. We've been fortunate enough to get access to every West Ham Premier League game Live this season. Whilst the news coverage is average we can't complain about the awesome access to live coverage we now get.

I know that AFL what never rate a mention in the UK, nor would anyone ever expect it to. I never said it should and I didnt use it as an example, but I did use the NRL and I guess you could add the Super 14's to that as well.

I only went to the AFL's defence because its opinions like what I read which will never help harmonious success of all 4 wonderful games.

You're right though, I was being a tad harsh to Risky, but as I said, I'm an QLDer first and foremost so I know what people from QLD and particularly NSW thought of AFL, but I honestly thought those sorts of views about Australian Rules had been left in the 20th century.

I agree with Dave

"AFL does not travel whereas football is the world game and every country has a good section of support for the game and more than any other league - the English Premier League."

Overseas dont give a fuck about Aussie sports, many Australians dont give a fuck about AFL or ruby till its grand final time. (End game supporters they are)

I believe the Australian media and public give too much attention to sports people in this country, A sports star gets 5 mins coverage for doing a sport he loves and getting paid shit loads more then the average person, while someone who dedicates ALL there life to helping others gets 30 sec and never remembered. - To me thats not logical.

Iv had my bitch....
