The mighty Shots win the Setanta Shield vs Rushden & Diamonds on Penalties 5-4 after an entertaining 3-3 draw!

Looks like they'll be doing the double this year then. Football League here we come again!

For those that don't know Aldershot went bankrupt and were expelled from Division 4 in 1991. They reformed a new team Aldershot Town in 1992 starting in the Ryman Legaue Division 3 - five leagues below the football League's lowest tier the old Division 4 now called League 2. It's taken 16 years but bar a tragic disaster they will attain their 5th Promotion back to the football league this year as they currently sit 14 points clear at the top of the Blue Square Conference.

I have a stong affiliation with the Shots. I was born there and my uncle was chairman from the mid 70s to mid 80s.

Come on you SHOTS!

Always had a soft spot for the Shots also. Went to a few games as I had a Shots mate.
Days of freezing winds and hot bovril!
Some people think football is a matter of life or death, but it's far more important than that.

My first two football matches ever were Aldershot vs Bolton & Aldershot vs Woves in the Division 4 playoffs 1987. Aldershot won them both and were promoted to division 3.

Aldershot Town Blue Square Premier Division Champions 2007/8
The name of Aldershot will return to the Football League next season after the Shots secured the one point they needed with a battling 1-1 draw at Exeter City.

Scott Donnelly equalised for the Shots on 42 minutes after Adam Stansfield had given Exeter a 39th minute lead.

A tremendous result in what has been an awesome season.

A full report will be online Wednesday - in the meantime congratulations to the magnificent Gary Waddock, his team of heroes and Shots fans everywhere.

898 Shots fans made the long journey to Devon to spur the lads on.

Bring on the Football League!

I remember the fake take over with that young lad....he hired a limo and pretended he had the finances to save them.
