Players Perspective

Postby Davros on Mon Apr 21, 2008 12:07 pm

Interesting read from Kumb, if true. C&Ped;-

"Was out in Loughton last night and a few of the players were out, Lucas Neill, Dyer, Anton, Collins, Gab's as well as Savage, Earnshaw, Carroll and Sheringham.

All were friendly enough but Dyer was a top lad, and wanted to talk. Anyway here's what was said:

Dyer:
Anton and Gabs are the best center back pairing at the club, He signed for us cos of the ambition the club is showing and is best mates with Bellamy and he sold the club to him, Rob Green is England's 2nd best keeper behind James, Lucas Neill is the best captain he has ever played under at any club and international level and feels his duty as captain hasn't helped his form but off the pitch he is the person who gets the players up for a game before kick off not the management, Scotty Parker is the best center midfielder at the club, Boa Morte always gives 110% and Dyer feels the criticism aimed at him is unfair, Thinks Sears and Tomkins are way ahead of anyone in their age group, Agreed we lack creativity but said he is the creative player for us for next season, and promised next season will be totally different when injuries have cleared up and thinks Him, Bellers and Ashton will be un-stoppable!! Said he is fit now but the club won't risk him this season. I said unfortunately due to him being a sicknote his signing didn't go down well and i was gutted that he broke his leg before having chance to show us what he can do. He said if he was at a top 4 club when he broke his leg there would of been as much coverage as there was with Eduardo. I kept saying i'll leave him to his night out but he kept saying stay and chat he likes to chat to fans and hear our point of view from the stands and put a players point of view across.

Lucas Neill:
I asked him what is going on regarding himself and next season? He said he definately doesn't want to leave the club, really enjoys playing for us and hopes the club don't look to offload him.

Gabs:
Basically doesn't like Curbs. I mentioned to him and Collins that i felt a center back would be offloaded in the summer due to having those 2, Anton, Upson, Tomkins and Spector. Gab's said "Me please if the manager is still here"

Collins:
Really nice bloke, thanked him for his effort towards the end of last season and told him because of the Tevez hype he didn't get enough credit as he deserved for the way he played and that i was gutted he has been unlucky with injuries, Thanked me and said he's very happy at West Ham.

Anton:
Not as talkative as the rest of them, asked how much i thought he earns a week, i said 20k he laughed and said way off. Is pissed off that players that play regularly aren't offered improved contracts, but some players are on huge contracts who don't play as much. Said he has 1 year left but the club hasn't mentioned anything about a new contract, i asked would he sign if he was offered one tomorrow, he said he'd have to take it away and have a long think. Thnks Mullins is the best center midfielder at the club to which Dyer came back with never Parker all day long.

Carroll:
Asked if all his off field problems are sorted now, he said kind of, also said he hopes to be back at West Ham next season.

Sheringham:
Said i called him every name under the sun when he missed the pen against Tot*enham at UP, he laughed and said he called himself every name under the sun and really wanted to score against them. I asked who he feels more for: West Ham, Man U, Forest, Millwall Or Tot*enham? He said West Ham, i said thank f*** you didn't say Millwall to which he laughed.

Savage:
Absolute diamond bloke off the field. Asked him how he feels about the abuse he gets at every ground and he said he loves it and it spurrs him on, my opinion totally changed about him."

Well if old glass ankles can chop them in for some titanium ones we may see the best of him. Truely wasted talent with his brittle bones.

Niell will stay, along with Ashton, Ferdi, Noble, Upson, Green, Linda, Ethers, Parker, Bowyer, Sears, Bellamy and Gabbs

OFF will be Spector, Carroll, Collins, Walker, Solano, LBM (HOPEFULLY), Bobby, Mullins.

Nice thread.

Carroll? He left last year mate. He signed for rangers and has gone on loan from them to Derby.

Well if Gabbs has that opinion and is willing to air it then i cannot see a place for him at the Hammers.Dont really care what his opinion is he is PAID (damn good money) to play football,or sit on the pine whatever the case he has to back the MANAGER,OR ASK FOR A TRANSFER.Was really disappointed about that remark and as far as im concerned he can leave with my blessing.

Maybe he's the only one being honest?
(Sorry couldn't resist that)
Some people think football is a matter of life or death, but it's far more important than that.

I don't think that's entirely fair. If you thought your boss was a cunt then you'd moan about him. And you don't know that he hasn't asked for a Transfer. Judging by that I reckon he will be out of the door by the summer and I think that's a shame as he is a quality player. Nobody knows what goes on between the players and manager and without all the facts it's not really fair to judge. I understand regardless of whether or not you're in the curbs camp that he can be a diffcult person to deal with and is quite autocratic. If you worked for a 1970s style boss right now you wouldn't be happy about it. Also you have to remember he was signed by pardew and was happy working for him - he didn't ask for the change in management.

Begs, to honest, I don't hate him but I think you may suspect that I don't rate him as a manager much. I never did at Charlton either and while we're at it I thought he was an average player for us at West Ham.
Apart from that, luv the Curbs, like me bruvva mate, top geezer

Dave i dont disagree with a lot of what you are saying,i just dont believe that you have a right to PUBLICALLY slag of the Management (who pay the bills). If he is so unhappy then by all means move on but dont possibly drive more wedges in between players and management. He will have to play under a lot of managers in his time im sure he wont like them all and they all wont like what he has to offer.

But he's not said anything publically. He said it to one guy in a bar and that guy has posted his comments on the internet.

If hes saying to one person in a bar he is obviously saying it to anyone that is willing to listen to him.He also said it in front of current players so it will surely all come out about his feelings.
