apparently we've granted Fulham permission to speak to Bobby and Johnny Pants
09.07.2008
West Ham United can confirm that the club has received an approach from
Fulham for the transfer of Bobby Zamora and John Pantsil.
The club is looking forward to an exciting new season with a fully-fit squad including the return of Kieron Dyer and Craig Bellamy along with Dean Ashton secured on a long-term contract. Added to the form of Carlton Cole and the emergence of Freddie Sears, the decision has been made to let Fulham speak to the two players. West Ham United CEO Scott Duxbury said: "We recognise that Bobby Zamora and John Pantsil have had limited first-team opportunities last season at West Ham United. They want to play regular first-team football and we have given permission for them to speak to Fulham with a view to concluding a move."

Don't mind old Johnny Pants plus I'd rather get rid of Cole than the Z-Man. At least a fit Zamora scores goals.
Get rid of Lucas Neill, too slow, bad tactical player and earns too much.

I can not beleive we are keeping Carlton Cole over Zamora. Zamora bleeds West Ham - I am so fucked off about this I don't know where to start with it. I thought they were planning on keeping johnny pants too but I can live with that one. We better be getting a shit hot striker in I can tell you or we're gonna be mighty pissed off.

Fine form beexie.
Spot on about scoring goals. I'd back Bobby over CFC any day to find the back of the net. At his worst Bobby is as good as CFC.
I know it doesn't count for much nowadays, but a bit of loyalty to a player who was instrumental in getting us back into the bigtime wouldn't go astray.
If Curbs lets him go, I hope he scores a hatrick against us at Upton Park (Obviously only after we have secured the premiership)

Sometimes you just have be pragmatic...you have to factor in injury history when assessing your player list...
Fact is CFC was fit and available virtually all season, Bob wasn't.
CFC scored 6 goals from 25 appearsances (12 as sub) , Bob scored 1 from 12 appearsances (2 as sub). Or to look at it another way CFC 6 goals from 13 starts, Bob 1 goal from 10 starts.
And CFC's contributions were far more than the handful of goals he scored. He worked his tits off at a time when others were crocked or couldn't be arsed like Ashton.
Take CFC out of the squad last year and we were well fucked...

Tis true. CFC worked bloody hard and earned a lot of respect from the WHU faithfull methinks and we would have been fuct without his goals but was Bobby ever really fit for many of those appearances. BZ's all round game is better than CFC's IMO. Remember the BZ that floored Sol Campbell and scored that cracker a cupla years ago. He's stronger and his control and first touch is better than CFC's

A strikers job is to score goals. Bobby has done the job over the journey at the Hammers and is a proven goal scorer.
CFC had a full pre-season under his belt and was injury free. 6 goals from 13 starts plus 12 sub appearances. Assume he played 15 minutes for each sub appearance that is a total of a further 180 minutes or the equivalent of 2 starts. Therefore 6 from 15. Not good enough as far as I am concerned. If you also take into account the number of free kicks he gave away when challenging for the ball in the air, well I don't find that impressive. Yes he worked hard. So he should. he gets paid to. He also gets paid to score goals.
Bobby came back from a long injury lay off so you can't compare stats on that basis. Deano struggled after he came back as well.

I think the 12 goals bobby got in the previous season is a fairer judgement merely because he was injured most of the season and never had a run to get himself going where as CFC played a big part due to the amount of injuries and had plenty of consecutive games to get some form together.
At the end of the day I'm a little heartbroken that Bobby is leaving and I wouldn't feel the same if CFC left.

Did they? Do you know what they offered? And for that matter what Fulham are asking for BZ and Johnny pants?
