Was about 5 hammers there.
The Hartlepool Striker (Porter I think, the #10) is South Australian. He's signed with the Gold Coast team, but his entire family was there watching the game, and we got a room at the back.
General feeling I got from the people that came is that now with Viewers Choice (and streaming off the internet) its just so much easier to stay at home to watch the games. With a smallish group it will be hard to get the people together, just because there are other priorities. Someone there said they had been to one of the Brisbane meet-ups, and said they were really good due to the sheer numbers.

Probably better in the off topic forum, but thought it would get more viewing here. Just after some advice and help please fellas ... applied for a Visa and all is going well, (Independent Skilled Migrant) and me and the mrs are looking at Adelaide, to move to early 2010. Was after general titbits and inisghts to help with the move etc.

(I'm gonna cop a slap from Kaye for that) Joking aside Paul (Westham5096) & Kaye (Illhavehalf) can probably tell you all you need to know about Adeliade. They run the Adelaide Hammers and are a very helpful couple.
No slap Dave, its true......Welcome Upton Lark. :-) What you wanna know?
Cheers fellas, you HAVE to keep this group going at least until i arrive out there. Was a ST holder at West Ham for 10 years, and will miss them probably more than family! ... so any West Ham group, added to the fact it will be good to have lads to go for beers with, would lessen that loss somewhat.
What do i want to know? Anything and everything!! ... just the whole, what happens on arrival shennanigans mostly.
- Obviously we'll have to rent for a bit when we first arrive, and are looking for jobs, ... most rentals in england wont do that UNLESS you have a job, so how does that work? (we will be bringing some savings to tide us over etc.)
- I'm a Policy Analyst (public sector) so what are the job prospects? (been advised their are plenty of public sector or governement agencies in adelaide) ... would I probably have to take a bar job, basic admin job first of all, before applying for 'proper' jobs etc. Most of the jobs i've seen advertised state that you have to be residing in Oz before you can apply.
- I understand i can open Australian bank accounts before I arrive. Any recommendations on banks etc.
- Anyone offer me a temp job? ;-)
- Any areas to avoid when renting? - any recommended areas or specific buildings / companies?
A quick run down of what Adelaide is like as a city would be appreciated too. Obviously I've done a large spot of research myself, but for some reason I trust the opinions of fellow hammers more thatn other internet sources!
